Baptisms

Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore,* and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.  And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

-Mathew 28: 18-20

BAPTISMS

Our Baptismal preparation is designed to assist parents and godparents in raising children in the Catholic faith. Please allow ample time to complete this planning. Expectant families are encouraged to begin preparation before their child is born.

As you prepare to schedule your child’s baptism, we ask parents to be registered and active members of the Catholic Church. Now is also the time to chose godparents for your child. Each child must have at least one Catholic godparent. The Catholic godparent must:

  • Be a Catholic who has celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation and regularly participates in the Eucharist
  • Be a practicing Catholic and a member of a parish
  • Be at least sixteen years old
  • If married, must be sacramentally married in the Catholic Church
  • Obtain a Parish Verification letter or form from their home parish.
  • Attend a Baptismal preparation class

Baptism for youth ages 7 to 17:

Children over the age of seven who are seeking baptism will participate in a two-year catechetical process adapted from the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, called the Christian Initiation of Children or Children's Initiation. This is a process for youth by which one is received into the Catholic Church (non-Catholics) or completes the sacraments of initiation (Catholics) through faith development focusing on prayer, sacraments, and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
