Give thanks to the Lord for His blessings.
Our God is a merciful God. He shows compassion to all those who seek Him. We see this in today’s gospel. Ten lepers cried out to Jesus and all ten were healed. Jesus did not ask for credentials or promises or payment. Yet only one returned to give thanks for his healing. Why is that? Did the others forget who healed them in the midst of their joy at being healed? Did Jesus become less important to them since their prayers were answered? Were they not schooled in good manners?

Jesus reminds us that our loving God deserves our gratitude for the blessings He has so freely given. Do we always recognize our blessings? If asked to compile a list, many people would include health, family, and friends. Some might even mention clean water, good food, and gainful employment. Would anyone include their old, falling apart, gas-guzzling jalopy? Probably not—unless they remembered that the alternative would be walking. What about the aches and pains suffered as our bodies age? They, too, are blessings when we remember that many people don’t live long enough to experience them.

Let’s spend some time reflecting on and being grateful for all the blessings in our lives. Take a good look at them, not just for what they are, but for what our lives might be like without them. And thank God for each and every one.

Demos Gracias a Dios por sus Bendiciones.
Nuestro Dios es un Dios de misericordia. Él muestra compasión a todos los que lo buscan. Eso lo vemos en el evangelio de hoy. Diez leprosos clamaron a Jesús y los diez fueron sanados. Jesús no pidió credenciales ni promesas de pago. Sin embargo, solo uno volvió a darle gracias por su sanación. ¿Por qué fue eso? ¿Olvidaron los demás quién los sanó en medio de su alegría de ser sanados? ¿Jesús se volvió menos importante para ellos cuando sus oraciones fueron contestadas? ¿No fueron educados con buenos modales?

Jesús nos recuerda que nuestro Dios amoroso merece nuestra gratitud por las bendiciones que Él gratuitamente nos da. ¿Reconocemos siempre nuestras bendiciones? Si se les pide que hagan una lista, muchas personas incluirían salud, familia y amigos. Puede que algunos mencionen agua limpia, buena comida y un empleo remunerado. ¿Incluiría alguien su viejo y destartalado carro? Probablemente no, a menos que recuerde que su opción es irse caminando. ¿Qué pasa con los dolores y molestias que sufrimos mientras nuestros cuerpos envejecen? Ellos también son bendiciones cuando recordamos que muchas personas no viven lo suficiente como para experimentarlos.

Tomemos un tiempo para reflexionar y agradecer todas las bendiciones en nuestras vidas. Mirémoslas bien, no solo por lo que son, sino por cómo serían nuestras vidas sin ellas. Y démosle gracias a Dios por todas y cada una de nuestras bendiciones.
