Anointing of the Sick
|
"By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them. And indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ." - The Catechism of the Catholic Church 1499 |
The Sacrament of Anointing the Sick is celebrated quarterly according to the following schedule: following the 5:30 pm Saturday evening Mass, during the 7:30 a.m. Sunday Mass and following the 12 noon Sunday Mass. Anointing of the Sick will also be held on Thursday following the 7:00 p.m. Mass in Spanish.
Priests, deacons, and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion from St. Thomas Aquinas visit North Fulton Hospital and the homebound regularly. Catholic patients in other metro hospitals receive the sacraments from the neighboring Catholic parish, and ministers from St. Thomas Aquinas visit when possible. Most hospitals no longer inform the church of a parishioner's admission. Please call the parish office if you or another parishioner will be hospitalized or homebound.
