Adult Religious Education

RCIA
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults follows the restored rites of the ancient Catechumenate. A community of inquirers forms each fall, and each proceeds at his or her own pace to Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist at Easter. Adult Catholics seeking Confirmation also participate in this process.

Adult Education
Adult Education is offered on Sunday mornings and evenings and on Wednesday evenings, concurrent with the children’s programs. Brochures of adult course offerings are mailed to all parish households in the fall and winter. There are a variety of offer-ings at each class time ranging from Bible studies to parenting classes to classes on spirituality, social justice, world religions, Catholic doctrine and Chris-tian living. There is never a fee for adult classes, nor do adults need to register in advance.

Small Faith Communities
Since the fall of 1989, we have been working to create this "smaller, more personal experience of church" for every member of our parish. We have been following Fr. Art Baranowski's three-phase plan as outlined in his book, Creating Small Faith Communities.

PHASE I - THE BEGINNING EXPERIENCE
Parishioners who wish to become part of a Small Faith Community begin with an introductory program such as Come As You Are. Groups of 10-15 people meet in homes or at the church on the day and at the time of their choice.

PHASE II - PRAYING ALONE AND TOGETHER
Upon completing the beginning experience, groups then continue their journey toward becoming a Small Faith Community using Praying Alone and Together, an 11-week prayer module by Fr. Art Baranowski.

PHASE III - THE SMALL FAITH COMMUNITY
The groups continue to gather to pray together, to share their lives with each other and to reflect on the Sunday readings, using Sunday by Sunday as a guide for their sharing and ongoing spiritual growth.

If you long for a place were you can:
  • know you are loved by the people of the Church

  • tell your story of faith and get a hearing in the faith community

  • grow in faith, hope and love

  • develop life-long friendships

Please call Terry Zobel at 770-475-4508, Ext. 205 to find out how to become part of a Small Faith Community.
